Brian Metolius is an American composer and lyricist, known for his innovative style that blends influences from film and theater. His music has been described as "John Carpenter meets Adam Schlesinger" by Mondo, and has been recognized for its unique sound and cinematic sensibilities.


Metolius began his career in music at an early age, studying percussion, piano, and voice. After studying music theory and composition at Stephen F Austin State University and later The University of Texas at Austin, he went on to become a successful composer and lyricist in the film and theater industries.


Metolius has composed music for a variety of productions, including the movie "Night of the Coconut," which features a soundtrack pressed onto vinyl and released by Mondo Records.  He has also written the music for the off-Broadway show "Puffs: Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic," which ran for 951 performances over three years and has since been performed by companies and schools all over the world.


Metolius' compositions are characterized by their ability to convey emotion and tell stories, making them perfect for use in film and theater. His work has been used in advertisements, narrative podcasts, and concert chamber ensembles. Metolius is also a respected guest speaker and lecturer, and has spoken with many high school and collegial composition and theater programs.
 

In addition to his work as a composer and lyricist, Metolius is an accomplished percussionist, pianist, and vocalist, and has worked with some of the most respected names in the film and theater world. He remains committed to creating innovative and inspiring music that resonates with audiences around the world.
